Ashes Of Misery

Nocturnal Hall

28-07-2007

During their metamorphosis from guitar playing couch potatoes to a serious band Dutch Thrash/Death gents known as STATE:CHAOS cash in on staff rotations and breakups of such bands like Callenish Circle and Desensitised, rascally absorbing experienced and skilled musicians. Ya know, make it faster, and do not pass “Go” ;) From all the songs they already have up their sleeves they have chosen four ones to mill on silicone under the name of Ashes Of Misery aiming for the attention of fans, labels and media. Mission succeeds!
Kicking off with Into the Ashes this song emerges as pure instrumental or a longer introduction of what has to come. Beautiful acoustic tones get accompanied by heavy guitar riffing and melancholic solos, ending up in a much Slayer-like transition to Desecration Of Life. Like an eruption now aggression and brutality unfolds that has seemingly established to be the band’s trademark. Alternating growls and screams hint to a modern approach, without seriously flirting with the metalcore genre, while the basics are definitely classic Thrash Metal, often inspired by Slayer. Fast and merciless these three songs get thrashed down. No experiments, no fretboard tricks but neck-breaking guitar riffing (Ashes Of Misery). No need to scream for more variety. Production is differentiated, ass-kicking and powerful. There is nothing to nag about. Ok, give us the guys to play our stages here in Germany! With Ashes Of Misery STATE:CHAOS have delivered a great demo! To check it out is a must-have! A full longplayer too!
