Chaos || Pain || Despair
A handful of years ago I’ve reviewed an EP Ashes Of Misery from a Dutch band called State:Chaos. Now, the time has come for its successor in the form of the first full-length entitled Chaos || Pain || Despair. I don’t know what exactly happened in the State:Chaos crew and why it took them four years to complete their full-length debut, but it is finally here. It offers 10 destroying thrash anthems, mixed with melo-death and core metal.
The songs are well-written and well-structured and even though the band uses a whole range of repetitive and standard riffs and breaks, it is still a strong and interesting release. It is powerful and aggressive as before, but this time the guys seem to have grown further. Their approach is tight and when they’re adding a fast drum beats, cool mid tempo riffs and varied vocals – this sounds extremely good. As just mentioned the vocals are varied, from grunting to screaming to yelling. Production part is also satisfying and with only minor drum sounds, it is satisfying and modern.
I can only recommend Chaos || Pain || Despair for any fan of modern and extreme metal to check it out!
